Four out of five child safety seats in automobiles today are installed incorrectly. Local police and Northwest Savings Bank will help area drivers assure that their children's safety seats are not among them on Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Northwest Savings Office in North Warren. There will be no charge for the service.
The free inspections will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. at 400 Jackson Run Rd., in the Warren Commons under the supervision of Sergeant Brandon Deppen of the Warren Police Department, Chief Jason Peters of the Conewango Township Police Department and Terri Rae Anthony of AAA. The Certified Car Seat Technicians will inspect both child safety seats and booster seats. If possible, drivers should bring both seat instructions and vehicle owner's manual for reference and bring the child who uses the seat so proper fit can be assured. The program is sponsored by the AAA and run in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Traffic Injury Prevention Project as part of National Child Safety Passenger Week.
Northwest Savings Bank will observe Customer Appreciation Day on Sept. 20. The bank invites all those having their safety seats inspected to stop in for refreshments. Children are welcome.
