FRANKLIN - Warren's girls tennis team evened its record at 3-3 with a dominating 4-1 victory over the Franklin Knights on Wednesday.
"It was great to see our girls bounce back," said Warren coach Norm Dziendziel. "We have been in every match this year and have missed big wins by only a few points. Lauren Beach came through with a big win for us today and Cassie Johnson continues to shine at the third singles position."
Beach needed just two sets to dispose of the Knights' Lina Starr, winning 6-3, 6-4. Johnson was a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Franklin's Lexi Weaver. Corie Eckman - at second singles - played tough in the team's only loss of the evening, losing in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 0-6.
The Dragons finished the victory with dominating doubles play as Tyler Dziendziel and Morgan Genberg and Shoshanna Ochocki and Kim Parroccini both earned wins. Dziendziel and Genberg defeated Bri Rodgers and Hanna Stewart 6-0, 6-1 and Ochocki and Parroccini bested Beth Pfoph and Caitlin Phipps, 6-1, 6-1.
"It was a doubles blowout for Warren today," said Warren assistant coach Jeff Bartsch. "Tyler and Morgan improved to an impressive 4-2 record at first doubles and Kim and Shoshanna are establishing themselves as a force at second doubles."
The Dragons host Central Tech Thursday.
