Warren Philharmonic begins rehearsals

September 13, 2012
The Times Observer

Warren Philharmonic (Warren Civic Orchestra) will begin rehearsals in the band room at the Warren Area High School at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20. Persons interested in joining the orchestra should call Vicki Hanson at 723-9110. Musicians are needed in the all string sections, percussion, and one bassoon player. Players must be accomplished in at least the first three positions (strings), be able to play in fast tempos and to sight-read sometimes.

Bryan Eckenrode, conductor of the Warren Philharmonic, chose three concert dates for the 2012-2013 season. The first concert will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 18, at the Warren Area High School Auditorium at 4 p.m.

The second concert will be March 17, 2013 (St. Patrick's Day), with music appropriate to the holiday. The venue for this program will be announced. The third concert will, again, be at the high school. The date for this program will be May 19, 2013. All concerts are on Sundays and start at 4 p.m.

The Warren Philharmonic will sell tickets for concerts at the door: Adult tickets (ages 19 to 59) are $10; senior tickets (age 60 and above) are $5; student tickets (ages 12 through 18) are $5; and children age 11 and younger are free. If you want to purchase tickets before the concert, contact any orchestra member, call 723-9110 or email vhanson@experienceinc.org.

The philharmonic will also sell seat cushions at the concert as a fundraiser. Cost of the cushions is $10 . Donations to benefit the orchestra's efforts to bring in outstanding soloists and purchase new music will also be accepted.

This project was made possible through the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. It is funded by the citizens of Pennsylvania through an annual legislative appropriation, and administered locally by the Arts Council of Erie, Inc. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is supported by The National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
