MARY JANE KEMP

Mary Jane Kemp, 82, of Briggs Drive, North Warren, Pa. passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the Rouse Warren County Home.

Mrs. Kemp was born April 10, 1930, in Oil City, Pa., the daughter of the late George Long, Sr. and Jennie Benson Long. She was a 1948 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, and then went on to Indiana State Teacher's College. She was employed by the Warren County School District as the Home Economics teacher in Sheffield for many years, and later as a Guidance Counselor at Warren High School from which she retired. Mary Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Women's Society, as well as several committees throughout the years. She was also a member of the Antique Study Club, and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her cats, garage sales and competing in 5K's and 10K's with her family.

She is survived by her husband, James Kemp, whom she married in 1954, in Winchester, Virginia; two sons, James Kemp, Jr., and wife, Carrie, Lebanon, Oh. and John Kemp, and wife, Candice, Edinboro, Pa.; one daughter, Mary Jo Zubrod, and husband, Alan, Warren, Pa.; one sister, Greta Shippling, Riverdale, Md.; six grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, George Long, Jr.

Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, September 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, on Saturday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. Sterling, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, Pa.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 1128 State St., Ste. 301, Erie, Pa. 165011920; Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, Pa. 16365; or the Rouse Home of Warren County.
