FRANKLIN - With a young team on the court in 2012, Youngsville volleyball coach Bev Fox knows that court time is of the utmost importance for her Eagles.

While not having an overwhelming amount of success, the Lady Eagles received some of that court time Saturday while competing at the Franklin Tournament at Franklin Area High School.

In pool play, the Eagles finished 1-5 while competing against Mercer, Oil City and Lakeview. Mercer defeated Youngsville, 25-21, in both games and Lakeview downed the Eagles, 25-21, 25-18. The locals were able to split with Oil City, winning the first game 25-18 before dropping the second game by an identical score.

After finishing pool play, the Eagles entered into a bracket style playoff where they were quickly defeated by Venango Catholic, 25-16, 25-22.

Abbey McLaughlin finished the weekend with 20 kills and 16 service points and Aubree Hendrickson had 46 assists. Karissa Cratty had 31 digs, 12 kills and seven blocks and Judi Lewis recorded 26 digs.

Youngsville starts a three-game homestand Tuesday when they entertain Cochranton.
