Dear editor:
I am writing this letter in response to the rumor that Transitional Care Center is closing. I will be very sad if this rumor is true. My wife and I have both had several admissions to that unit. We had wonderful care there and maintained contact with the people that work there.
Warren could lose something valuable with this closing. My wife was severely injured out of the area but was able to have an extended stay on TCC enabling her to return home. We have both had joint replacements and were able to go to TCC for rehab. Where will the people like us go?
I have heard there will only be 5 beds available to use as rehab beds. That's not nearly enough. TCC has more patients than that on a regular basis. Why did the hospital give the impression that all of TCC will become a swing bed when I heard this is not true?
The people of Warren need this unit open, especially as we read weekly that there are cutbacks in home services, availability for assistance once you get home and increase in prices for those services. The population is getting older and will need something like TCC to allow us to return home, healthier and safer after surgery or a traumatic incident.
Thank you,
Joe and Josephine Scully
