VOLLEYBALL: Youngsville sweeps TCCS

Youngsville opened its volleyball season with a quick three-set non-region victory on Thursday over Tidioute Charter.

Several Lady Eagles stood out in the 25-7, 25-8, 25-11 victory. Judi Lewis had 23 service points while Julie Jameson added 10. Kennedy Cratty had 10 kills and two blocks. Aubree Hendrickson had 15 assists. Karissa Cratty had nine digs.

"I was very pleased with our performance," said Youngsville first-year head coach Bev Fox. "We came out and played well, but we still have room for improvement."

Tidioute was led by Ryleigh Mahaney, who finished with one kill, one block and four digs. Anna Lindemuth added four digs, one assist and one block, while Robbi Kitelinger had a kill and three digs.

Youngsville won the J.V. matchup, 25-0, 25-7. Kailey Giese had 35 service points and Marissa Byler added eight.

TCCS (0-2) will take on Erie Bethel at home on Tuesday, while Youngsville (1-0) travels to the Franklin Tournament on Saturday.

WCCS 3, Erie Bethel 0

Warren County Christian School is 4-0 after a 25-5, 25-16, 25-8 win over Erie Bethel on Thursday at Warren County Christian School.

Allyssa Kerr had 19 service points, 13 aces and four kills; Kaitlin Weidner 13 points, eight aces, five kills and 11 assists; Jessica Lauffenburger 11 points, seven aces and two kills; Dymphee Zortman five points and two kills, and; Whitney Poindexter three aces,

"I'm thrilled with where they're at right now and hope we can keep improving," said WCCS coach Monica Kerr, whose Lady Lions host Jamestown Bethel at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Bradford 3, Sheffield 0

Sheffield is 0-2 after a 25-7, 25-10, 25-10 sweep at the hands of Bradford on Thursday.
