Golf results

WACOPSE beat Morning Sun to claim the overall championship of the Monday Blueberry Senior Golf League at Blueberry Hill Golf Club. WACOPSE team members include Jon Carlson, Lou Rich, Jack White and Gary Breese. Morning Sun includes Wayne Swanson, Ivan Tuller, Roy Bennett and Glen Culbertson.

The year-end tournament was won by American Legion (Jim McMeans, Dick Huckabone, Don Anderson, Ted Bleech). The Legion won a match of cards to defeat both The Moose (Bud Moore, Sherm McKown, Bruce Swanson, Jeff Frailey) and The Elks (Jim Senger, Bob Weber, Bud Baughman and Bob Weiland).

The round's low net score belonged to Joe Goldthwaite with a 38. Larry Brown and Jim Senger shared second low gross of 39 and Wayne Swanson had third low gross of 40. Tim Bleech and Goldthwaite shared low net of 30 and Bennett, Randy Grant and Al Schumann all had second low net of 31.

Bruce Swanson had an eagle and a birdie during play and Larry Bearfield, Mark Bevevino, Brown, Bleech, Pat Hultquist, Andy Kegel, Moore, Culbertson, Ken Miller, Jim McCollough, Anderson and Wayne Swanson all had birdies.

Canoe/kayak

poker run

The 2nd Annual Canoe/Kayak Poker Run, benefitting Youngsville baseball field improvements, will be held Saturday, September 8 with a rain date of Sunday, September 9. The event will start from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., will end at 4 p.m. and will run from the Kinzua Dam to Betts Park.

The cost is $15 if pre-registered or $20 the day of the event. To pre-register, send a check payable to the Youngsville Borough to the Youngsville Borough building on Railroad St. in Youngsville or call Steve Morris at 563-7788 or 563-4604.
