OIL CITY - Warren started its dual match schedule off in fine fashion Tuesday, handing Cranberry a 3-1 defeat at Cranberry High School.
The Dragons won the opening two sets 25-15 and closed out the match in set four with a 25-17 victory. The Berries won the third set, 25-23.
"The girls did a nice job executing our offense tonight," said Dragons coach Mike Dolan. "We got the ball to our hitters and they were able to put together some good swings on the ball."
Rachel Lasecki and Valerie Latimer had nine kills each for the winners, Teah Bines chipped in six aces, McKenzie Merenick added four and Allie Sedon had four blocks.
Warren's junior varsity team survived a close match, winning 25-21, 15-25, 17-15. Jen Daugharthy had four kills for the winners.
Warren (1-0) returns to action Tuesday, hosting Meadville in its league opener.

WCCS 3, French Creek 0
SAEGERTOWN - Warren County Christian School's volleyball team improved to 3-0 and 2-0 in the New Pen Christian Conference with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-13 win over French Creek Valley Christian on Tuesday.
"They are starting to play together as a team," said WCCS coach Monica Kerr. "The passing was much improved tonight."
Kaitlin Weidner had 14 service points, five aces, three kills and 14 assists for a nice all-around game for WCCS. Allyssa Kerr had 13 points, including nine aces, and five kills; Caitlin McCall 11 points and six aces; Dymphee Zortman eight points and three aces; Whitney Poindexter five kills, and; Jessie Lauffenburger five points, two aces and three kills.
WCCS hosts Erie Bethel on Thursday and Jamestown Bethel on Friday before a big early-season matchup at Erie First Christian on Tuesday.

Johnsonburg 3, Sheffield 1
JOHNSONBURG - Sheffield is 0-1 after a four-set road loss, 9-25, 22-25, 25-15, 13-25, at Johnsonburg on Tuesday.
Marlea Sprandle led the Wolverines with 15 service points.
"We should have been in this game tonight," said Sheffield coach Traci Vile. "With each game we play, we're getting better. We're trying to play as a team, and still trying to find the right mix of girls to be effective. The talents there. I think it's a matter of time."
Rachel Maines had 10 service points and Julia Vile seven in a 23-25, 25-15, 13-15 junior varsity loss.

Mercyhurst Prep 3, Eisenhower 0
ERIE - Coming off an impressive team effort at the Cambridge Springs Tournament on Saturday, Eisenhower's volleyball team didn't play as well in starting 0-1 at Mercyhurst Prep, 10-25, 13-25, 8-25.
"They are a well-rounded team," said Ike coach Tina Edwards of Mercyhurst Prep. "Their middle hitter was phenomenal. We switched a couple things up and had girls playing beside each other not used to playing beside each other."
Edwards said consistency and in-game adjustments should improve for a team that begins Region 4 play late next week.
Ashley Barnett had a nice night serving and added eight digs, Kelsey Repke three digs, Alyssa Peterson 11 service points, two kills and one block, and Marion Sherer one kill.
Mallory Trumbull had a nice serving match in a 2-1 Eisenhower junior varsity loss.
