BOYS GOLF: Best showing yet for Warren boys golf

September 5, 2012
By JON SITLER (jsitler@timesobserver.com) , The Times Observer

It was Warren's best effort of the season on Tuesday in a home Region 3 Mega Match at Blueberry Hill Golf Club.

The Dragons actually tied region-leading Meadville with a four-person 322, getting edged for first on the day by the fifth-golfer tiebreaker.

Nathan Sandberg was banged up as Warren boys soccer goalie on Saturday, but fought through tough, rainy conditions on Tuesday for an 18-hole 79, which tied for third best overall on the day with teammate Carter Cerra.

It was Cerra's best effort of the season. Same goes for Andrew Gignac's 80 and Anthony Deppas' 84.

"It doesnt matter who is playing for you, if you shoot 320 (as a team), you will win a lot of matches," said Warren coach Dan Passmore, "and 330 you'll be in a lot of matches.

"We need three people to shoot around 80 and one to shoot mid-80's, and that's exactly what we got," he said.
