The UEMS E-Mods, Limited Late Models and Street Stocks joined the Super Late Models and Crate Late Models for the final night of Fun Fest at the big track on Saturday at Stateline Speedway.
Thirty E-Mods attempted to make the 24-car starting field for $1,000 winner's share. Mike Kinney, Kyle Bedell, John Boyd and John Woodward Jr. were the final four qualifiers.
Like the first night of the Fun Fest, Dave Hess Jr. proved why he is one of the best E-Mod drivers in the country with a lap-16 pass of another very good driver, Randy Hall, and won the event by several car lengths.
It looked like a repeat of Friday night as Dave Scott started on the pole of the Super Late Model feature and led every one of the 30 laps, collecting his second $3,000 win of the weekend. Dave Hess Jr. set fast time and finished fifth.
The Limited Late race was just several dashes between cautions where 2012 champ Steve Kania took control early in the event for his sixth win.
2012 Crate Late Model champion Damien Bidwell, a no show on Friday night, started on the pole for a green to checkers run in the Crate Late feature. The win was not easy as veteran Chad Ruhlman pressed the young champion at every opportunity. Max Blair Friday nights winner finished fifth.
2012 point champ Chris Withers controlled the last laps - after another yellow flag - for his 10th win in 14 Street Stock starts.
Friday
Time trials were held on Friday for the Super Late Models and Robbie Blair set fast time with 15.91 lap, two tenths of a second faster the runner up Darrell Bossard. Blair's average speed for the fast lap was 75.226 MPH. Doug Eck jumped the cushion and did two barrel rolls in the second Super Late Model qualifying heat. Eck was unhurt but the flip ended his night of racing.
Dave Hess Jr. passed David Scott on lap three of the $1500-to-win E-Mod event held Friday and never looked back while the race for second was heavily contested between Scott, Randy Hall, Brent Rhebergen and Ron Davies with Scott taking the position.
David Scott had better luck in the Super Late Model feature, starting on the pole then using the top of the speedway to lead every lap. It sounded easy but strong challenges from Robbie Blair, Chris Hackett and Ron Davies gave Scott no rest. Davies tested Scott several times in heavy lap traffic and could pull alongside in the turns then would fall back on the straights.
Jason Genco came close to repeating his win of last Saturday but, with two laps remaining, mechanical problems ended his race and set up Max Blair for his fifth win of the season.
Kelly Frederes out ran 2012 Super Sportsman champ Dan Nocero Jr. to win the Sportsman feature event. Frederes took control on lap three passing early leader Wade Watson.
Chad Bender was the only 2012 champ to win his feature on Friday. Bender led the Super Challenger from the start for his eighth win.
