War on women

September 3, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor,

The news media say there is a war on women. That's true, but the real war on women is abortion. It kills women's innocent babies. It destroys the lives of women and girls. And it's encouraged by the abortion industry like Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood performed 329,445 abortions in 2010! The overall trend is to increase abortions each year not lessen them. Planned Parenthood received one billion dollars in 2010 with $487 million from taxpayer money. More money means more abortions.

Here in Pennsylvania abortion centers are refusing to show the ultrasound images of their preborn children-images that often change minds. These places encourage women to abort! And think about the gruesome abortion mills run by Kermit Gosnell and Steven Brigham in Pennsylvania. They brutalized women!

Increased drug abuse, alcoholism, depression, infertility and other health problems can plague women after an abortion. Many women suffer in silence because they are afraid to reveal their pain, even to family and friends. Unfortunately, the people a woman is closest to are often the ones who pressured her to have an abortion.

We must realize that it isn't our decision about who lives and who dies. Our Creator has the power and the authority to do this and He is also our judge. Therefore we must opt for life. A side note; If we didn't abort over 50 million babies since 1973 our economy would not be in such a mess today.

Respectfully submitted,

Joanna and Dewey Mayes
