JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Warren's girls tennis team improved to 2-1 with a 3-2 non-region win over Jamestown (N.Y.) High School on Friday.
A day after suffering its first loss of the season in a sweep at the hands of Villa Maria, Warren earned one singles win and two in doubles.
Lauren Beach fell 3-6, 3-6 to Jamestown's Abby Whisner, and Corie Eckman fell 0-6, 2-6 to Chloe Knopp.
At No. 3 singles, Warren's Cassie Johnson won, 6-1, 6-1, over Lucy Pannes.
"It's been a while since we've played a New York school," said Warren coach Norm Dziendziel. "It was great for our girls to have a chance to play new players. Cassie Johnson was outstanding at third singles; her game was ideal for the windy conditions."
Warren's No. 1 doubles team of Tyler Dziendziel and Morgan Genberg won 6-0, 6-1 over Morgan Deppas and Kim Lindquist, and Shoshanna Ochocki and Kim Parroccini beat Rosa Valasquez and Jennifer Valone, 6-1, 7-5.
"This was a solid team win for Warren," said Warren assistant coach Jeff Bartsch. "Our doubles teams got out to a quick start and finished strong. Shoshanna and Kim gutted out the second set to win 7-5 and avoid a third set, That wrapped up the match for Warren."
