KANE - Sheffield's season got off to a rough start on Friday night as the Wolverines fell to Kane, 35-13, at Paul R. Miller Stadium.
The Wolverines' offense struggled to move the ball throughout the contest, finishing with 169 total yards.
Kane raced out to an early lead, with Jeff Kocjancic scoring on two first-quarter touchdown passes from Sean Jordan. Kocjancic would add on two more touchdown receptions in the second half for four total touchdowns to go along with 78 yards through the air.
The Wolverines struggled mightily throughout the first half, managing 27 total yards.
Sheffield quarterback Shequan Wright was sacked four times in the half, including two by Evan DeLong, who also recovered two Wolverine fumbles.
Sheffield did manage to make it a one-possession game in the third quarter when Wright scrambled into the end zone for a two-yard touchdown.
Kane would add on three more touchdowns, two by Kocjancic and one rushed in by Jordan, before the Wolverines ended the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Wright to Dylan McNeal as time expired.
Wright threw for 139 yards while Tyler Fitzgerald ran for 20 for Sheffield (0-1), which hosts Elk County on Saturday on Wolverine Mountain. Dylan Reynolds added 38 yards on two receptions and Dylan Smith had 26 on five catches.
