BOYS GOLF: Knights ‘better’ at Thursday’s Mega Match

August 31, 2012
The Times Observer

FRANKLIN - Eisenhower did well at its second Region 5 Mega Match on Thursday, finishing third at Wenango Country Club - two spots better than the Knights' first outing last week.

"We did better," said Ike coach Phil Heubach, whose Knights finished at 386 strokes, or 45 strokes better than Monday, Aug. 20.

Titusville remains in first in the region, finishing with 339, followed by Corry's 341.

Jacob Linkerhof led the Knights with an 18-hole 87, or 11 strokes better than last week. Tab Berkhous shot a 96, Trevor Flinn 100 and Damiond Zimmerman 103 - all season lows.

"That's the best (Jacob has) done so far," said Heubach. "Jacon should be able to break 90 consistently. They are all right around 100. If they start breaking in the 90's, we should battle for third place (every Mega Match)."

That's the best he's done so far. I think that might be the best for all of them in a match so far.
