ERIE - According to Warren girls tennis coach Norm Dziendziel, Warren was simply "outplayed" during a 5-0 loss to powerhouse Villa Maria in girls tennis action Thursday in Erie.
"It was a beautiful day for tennis, but we just got outplayed," said Dziendziel. "The highlight of the day was the (exhibition) doubles match played by sophomores Alexis Vavala and Megan Waterfield. They played great and won the match, 7-4, in an intense tiebreaker."
Singles players Lauren Beach, Corie Eckman and Cassie Johnson all suffered setbacks on the day. Beach lost to Bernadette Prichard, 6-1, 6-0, Eckman fell to Hayley Geronimo, 6-2, 6-4 and Johnson was defeated, 6-0, 6-0, by Emily McGovern.
Doubles teams of Tyler Dziendziel and Morgan Genberg and Shoshanna Ochocki and Kim Parroccini were also defeated in straight sets.
Warren (1-1) will look for a better result Tuesday when it hosts Fairview.
