JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Helpi Reyes struggled in three innings of work and the Jamestown Jammers were dealt another loss by Williamsport, 10-6, Wednesday at Diethrick Park.
Despite scoring six runs on 11 hits, Jamestown's pitching and defense wasn't up to par as the hosts dipped to 26-35 on the season. The team is back in action Thursday, looking for a four-game split when it again hosts the Crosscutters.
Williamsport chased Reyes early in this one, scoring seven times in the first three innings while building an 8-4 lead through three and a half innings. The Crosscutters plated three runs in each of the second and third innings.
Jamestown's offense did all it could to keep up, scoring in each of the first three innings. Cody Keefer recorded an RBI double in the first, Yefri Perez had an RBI double and Keefer an RBI single in the second and Viosergy Rosa drove home a run while grounding into a double play in the third.
The Jammers got as close as 8-5 in the sixth inning when Keefer drove home his third run of the evening, but Williamsport responded with a two-spot in the eighth and Jamestown would get only a Michael Main eighth-inning sacrifice fly the rest of the way.
The Jammers finished 12 total hits. Keefer had three hits and Perez, Rosa and Juancito Martinez added two each in the loss.
