Golf results
Mike Bancroft captured his second Steeplechase Championship Sunday at Conewango Valley Country Club. The tournament features the top golfers at CVCC and Bancroft defeated Maurice Bennett on the last hole with a par. Bennett was making his Steeplechase debut.
Tony Pellegrino was third followed by Jerry Bancroft in fourth, Dick Cole in fifth, Joe Nelson in sixth, Andrew Papalia in seventh, Bill Andrews and Joe Bellitto in a tie for eighth, Anthony Pellegrino and Tyler Martin in a tie for 10th and Nathan Sandberg, Eric Mead and Bart Jensen in a tie for 12th.

Tryouts for the 16U Kinzua Crush girls fastpitch travel softball team are being planned for the 2013 season. Dedicated and motivated players are asked to contact Ed Loutzenhiser at 730-8718 for information.

Tim Benedict, 22, of Pittsfield, and a graduate of Youngsville High School, was featured in the Aug. 13 issue of Sports Illustrated in its "Faces in the Crowd" section. A recent graduate of Penn State University, Benedict claimed the 2012 STIHL Timbersports Collegiate Championship in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., in June in front of ESPNU and Outdoor Channel television cameras.
By winning the collegiate championship, Benedict, who has been featured in the Times Observer, earned an automatic spot in the 2013 STIHL Timbersports Pro Series and will travel to Norway during the World Championships Sept. 7 and 8 - streamed live at www.stihltimbersports.us.
