Genevieve M. Caldwell, 96, formerly of 510 Y Street in Kane, died Monday afternoon, August 20, 2012 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where she resided.
Born January 11, 1916 in Warren, she was the daughter of Harry F. and Marie E. Feiro Streich. On June 30, 1937 in Jamestown, N.Y., she married Charles R. Caldwell, who died in 1987.
She had worked at the Kane Shirt Factory and had been a housekeeper in the Kane area.
Genevieve was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Kane, where she was a deacon, belonged to the Morning Circle and sang in the Chancel Choir. She also belonged to Mountain Grange #1307 in Kane and volunteered at The Lutheran Home.
Surviving are three daughters, Susan E. McDermott of Curwensville, Lynda M. Karger of Kane and Sally McClellan of Newport, Pa.; and two sons, C. Douglas Caldwell and Gary R. Caldwell, both of Kane. Sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren also survive, plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a son, Dennis R. Caldwell in 1989, a grandson Charles R. McDermott in 2002, and a sister, Joyce Emigh.
Friends may call from 7:00 to 9:00 today (Tuesday) at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, and may attend a celebration of her life at 11:00 on Wednesday at The Presbyterian Church in Kane with the Rev. Rebecca Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will have taken place in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Kane.
