Puppet play Sunday

Starbrick Community Church, 168 Weiler Rd., will have a puppet play at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Aug. 19. The play will be directed by Celia Chase and Rose Wells and will be titled "Noah and the Ark." All of the children in the service will participate in the play. Trevor Smith, assistant minister, will give the scripture lesson. There will be a dinner directly after the service for those attending the service. Bring a tureen to share. The public is invited to join in the service.

Crafters to meet

North Warren Crafters will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at North Warren Presbyterian Church. Participants should take a personal item on which to work, a white elephant auction item and a sack lunch. Dessert will be provided by Louise Cummings.

Picnic planning

Warren High School Class of 1953 will have a picnic planning meeting at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Train Station in North Warren. The meeting will follow lunch.

Class to lunch

Warren Area High School Class of 1964 will have lunch at noon Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Jackson Valley Country Club. All members of the class and their spouses or significant others are welcome.

Hoffman reunion

The 51st Hoffman family reunion will be Sunday, Aug. 19, at Chapman State Park, Pavilion #1. Gathering will start at 12:30 p.m., and food will be served at 1:30 p.m. Participants should take a dish to share, table service, and own refreshment and a gift for the white elephant auction.

Trail group to meet

The Allegheny National Forest chapter of the North Country National Scenic Trail will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Lion's Den in Sheffield. Having just completed two very successful events, the group is getting back to basic business. A work detail to build a short log bridge across a small creek and re-route about 150 foot of trail will be held Aug. 25. Also, construction has begun on a new hiker shelter along Queen's Creek in Warren County. Two members who attended the NCTA's national conference at Kalamazoo, Mich., came home with great ideas for the chapter. The NCT GeoTrail is still going strong with talk of doing a state-wide geotrail along the NCT on all 300 miles in Pennsylvania. This meeting is open to the public. Homecoming meeting

The annual meeting of the Corporation established as Grand Valley Homecoming will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church. Voting will take place regarding the dissolution of the corporation and the distribution of all funds remaining (equally between Grand Valley United Methodist Church and Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department). Anyone who wants to express an opinion regarding these matters is invited to attend the meeting.

Concert Saturday

"Slow Motion Breakdown" will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at House of Worship Biker Church, 112 Conewango Ave., Warren. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Admission will be $5 per person.

No service Sunday

There will be no church service at Good News Church, 615 Conewango Ave., Warren, on Aug. 19. The congregation will join the regular worship service at Chapman State Park Amphitheater at 10 a.m. The all-church picnic will follow at 11 a.m. at Pavilion 4. Participants should take a dish to share or dessert and their own table service. Everyone is welcome.
