A couple of weeks ago the Times Observer reported that the WCSD still has $75,000 in outstanding lunch debts. I wonder how much of that is for children whose only meal a day may be that lunch?? Do you know that we have over 150 homeless children in this county?
From March of 2010 through March of 2012, the taxpayers of Warren County paid out $14,586.50 for food and beverages for Warren County School District meetings. There were a total of 99 said meetings which breaks down to a figure of $147.34 per meeting. My next question would be "How many meals would that pay for the children of this district that don't qualify for free or reduced meals even when their families are struggling on a day to day basis?" I am not talking just low income families, as the so called middle class is struggling also. Come on people, lets do somthing to stop the waste like this. The kids should be the top priority and somewhere along the line in this area, they got left behind. And it is not the teachers that have done this..it is Administration and the School Board. KIDS MATTER...
While I am not saying it doesn't happen, in the 20 years I worked at the courthouse, I don't remember going to a meeting that provided food and beverages for those in attendence. Just saying...
