Crash Week
The Eisenhower Knights football team has just finished its “Crash Week”, getting ready for the 2012 season. Pictured is the defense at work.

The next Book Club at the Sugar Grove Free Library will meet on Aug. 27. The selected book is "The Samurai's Garden" by Gail Tsukiyama. It is a short read with layers of history and human behaviors. Join us for the last of the summer discussion evenings.

This book club will not be held at the library. We will meet in front of the library and then car pool to a member's summer cottage at Chautauqua Lake.

Thank you to all who came out to join us for discussions at our July Book Club on "Where the Heart Is" by Billie Letts.

Vacation Bible School

Hessel Valley Lutheran Church will be holding its Vacation Bible School the last week before school starts, Aug. 20-24 from 6 to 8 p.m. All children are invited to come out for great fun. We will be learning about the love of Jesus for us through games, music, stories, snacks and songs. VBS will be at night, not during the day as in the past. Come and bring a friend!

Renovations

at the Library

Sugar Grove Free Library is getting new carpet and will be closed Aug. 20-23 while it is installed. The library will reopen for normal hours on Aug. 27.

They could use some volunteers to help move the library to the fire hall on Aug. 17 and 18 and then back into the library on Aug. 24th after carpet is installed.

If you can help, call the library at 489-7872 or email sgfreelibrary@gmail.com.

Class of 1967

The Eisenhower High School Class of 1967 will hold its reunion weekend on Aug. 17-18. Members of the Eisenhower Classes of 1966 and 1968 are also invited to attend the hot dog roast on Friday evening. Call Sue Shield Yovich at 489-3733 for more details.

Movie Night Sugar Grove Borough Council invites you to a Movie in the Park night. "Puss In Boots" will be the feature movie shown in the Sugar Grove Park on Saturday, Aug. 18. The movie will begin at 9 p.m. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks and enjoy the show. The movies in the Outdoor Movie Series are family movies played on an inflatable movie screen and are brought to you by the COT and WCVB Outdoor Movie Series.

Food Distribution

The Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will hold its distribution at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 18. Over 197 families were served with over 15,500 pounds of food in just three hours at the last distribution.

The site will open at 8 a.m. and distribution will take place after the volunteers have unloaded the truck. The mission of the Mobile Food Pantry is to provide food assistance to families and individuals in rural communities. The Second Harvest Food Pantry of Erie partners with the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church to provide this service to the area.

Back to School

Students of the Warren County School District will return to classes on Tuesday, Aug. 28. On Monday, Sept. 3 school will not be in session due to the Labor Day holiday.
