City streets

August 16, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

As I opened the newspaper this morning (8-13-2012) I see the headlines about the paving of the city streets and what not.

It reads on to say that different sections of Warren City streets will be paved between this year and next. That's fantastic. However, I am more than a little upset that the worst, and maybe most important, streets are again being ignored: Crescent Park from Hickory St to the Emergency Room entrance at Warren General and Main Ave from St. Clair St to Crescent Park.

As an EMS provider in this county for many years for several different agencies (let me add here that this is NOT the opinion of anyone but my own) I am tasked daily with transporting sick and injured patients across these streets with no way around them.

These streets are in horrible condition and are VERY uncomfortable to ride on when your not ill or injured. I cannot imagine what it must be like to bounce across them when your not feeling well or even worse, hurt and secured to one of many different kinds of immobilzation devices.

I am positive that I do not stand alone in saying this. What do we have to do to get City Council to spend some of the funds on those sections of roads to improve their condition so we dont have to put our patient's through this anymore? Suggestions?
