FISHERS, Ind. - Warren's Jeff Zaffino won his 19th career Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) regional championship on Saturday at the Central Region Boss Snow Plows/Track Open at PinHeads Bowling Center.

The win also put Zaffino in the points lead of the PBA Central Region - from third to first, as well as the money earnings lead with $8,500 after the $2,000 first-place prize on Saturday.

Zaffino plans to compete for a $4,000 first-place prize this weekend at the Lefeld Implement Classic in Coldwater, Ohio.

After a 7 1/2-hour drive to Fishers, Ind., this past weekend, Zaffino finished ahead of 36 other bowlers in an eight-game qualifying round. Zaffino finished with 2,104 pins in eight games, or an average of 251.75 per game. His high was 278 at the tournament.

Zaffino averaged a 243.25 after the eight-person match play finals, and his bonus points gave him the title, 4,012-3,982, in 16 games over second-place David Trabor, of Hebron, Ill. Trabor was ahead heading into the final match.

Zaffino is in the running for PBA Central Region Bowler of the Year with the win. He also won the Eastown Recreation Center Open in Jasper, Ind., and Victory Lanes Senior Open in Galion, Ohio, earlier this year. By being the points lead in the PBA Central Region's four "animal pattern" championships, Zaffino has automatically earned a spot in the PBA World Series of Bowling Nov. 2-11 in Las, Vegas, Nev.
