The race for the regular season title in the Richard T. Betts Rec Modified Softball League got a little more heated Wednesday at Betts Park.
Entering the night a game back of unbeaten Betts in the loss column, Fralick Chiropractic jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and into a tie in the loss column for the league's top spot with a 12-5 victory.
Chris Maggio belted two homers and Asa Johnson had one of his own, helping Fralick (13-1) to the victory. Maggio had a team-high three hits and Shane Swan, Bill Lawson, Ben Lindquist and Johnson had two each. Joe Conti struck out three and was the winning pitcher.
For Betts (14-1), five different players finished with two hits. Among those were Jeff Eaton, Jason Rafalski, Casey Moyer, Addison Dunn and Jeff Berdine. Moyer and Eaton doubled in defeat and Rick Eaton was handed the loss.
