Alzheimer's

support offered

Bridges Adult Day Center, 905 Fourth Ave., Warren, will host its monthly Alzheimer's support group on Thursday, Aug. 2, starting at 6:15 p.m. This month's meeting will focus on activities for persons with dementia. For more information about the Alzheimer's support group, call 726-1116. This support group is officially sanctioned by the Alzheimer's Association.

Hilliard signing books Friday

Author Robert Hilliard will sign copies of his new book, "A Season on the Allegheny," from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at the US Forest Service Office located at 4 Farm Colony Rd., Warren. The book has ranked in the top 20 percent in Kindle store sales since its release as an eBook more than five months ago and is now available in paperback. Critics call it "true and authentic and a book "for all of us who love nature."

Art league paint out

Warren Art League will have a meeting and "paint out" at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Pat Orbanic's house, 5186 Market St. Ext. (Rt. 62). Participants should take a dish to share and swimsuit. Holly Butryn, a stone and crystal artist who makes jewelry and mobiles, will present her work, demonstrate wire wrapping, and discuss the attributes of crystals to affect a persons energies.

The league's Fall Art Show will take place at the Crary Gallery, opening on Friday, Oct. 5, and running until Sunday, Oct. 21. Those who plan to exhibit must also agree to proctor.

Women to lunch

Retired women of the Warren County Courthouse will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Richard's Restaurant in Youngsville.

Neighborhood Watch discussed

Neighborhood Watches will be the topic of Warren City Police Sergeant Brandon Deppen at 12:45 p.m. today, Monday, July 30, at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren. Neighborhood Watch is a good way to get to know neighbors and to take ownership of your neighborhood. Deppen will share hints on how to get a watch started and will answer questions.
