ABERDEEN, Md. - Jamestown took Aberdeen to extra innings Friday, but the end result was the same as the previous four outings as the Ironbirds completed a three-game sweep with a 4-3, 10-inning victory over the Jammers (18-21) at Ripken Stadium.
The game was decided early in the bottom of the 10th inning.
After starting the inning with a strikeout, Jamestown pitcher Nick Wittgren allowed a single to Lucas Herbst and the game-winning RBI triple to Creede Simpson.
Jamestown will hope for better luck Saturday when it opens a three-game set in Connecticut with the Stedler Divison Tigers.
The Jammers led early in Friday's game, jumping out to a 1-0 advantage. Juancito Martinez walked, stole second, moved to third on a Matt Juengel single and scored on Viosergy Rosa's sacrifice fly. Jamestown later made it 2-0 with a Martinez RBI groundout in the second inning.
The Ironbirds' big breakthrough inning came in the bottom of the second when the hosts plated three runs off of Jammers starter Mason Hope.
