The Forest Area Arts Council will sponsor a three-hour "Welcome Home" sign workshop in Tionesta on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants will learn to create a sign for their own home or for a gift. Class instructor will be Christine Colman, area artist and crafter, who works with durable acrylic paints suitable for outdoor environments. Participants will have a choice of two different surfaces - cherry wood or antique slate - as well as three different styles for the lettering using a basic one-stroke method that will let you create something from the heart. Class is limited to 12 students and will be held in the artist's studio on Vine Street in Tionesta. All materials and tools will be provided. To register for this class or for information on cost and sign size, contact Nancy Yergin at email@example.com or (814) 755-7724 before registration deadline of Aug. 18.

Coffee and soft drinks will be provided. The day will include reminiscing; photo albums of Torpedo, Garland and old home days past will be available. After lunch, games will be available for the children. Proceeds from the white elephant sale will benefit the Torpedo Old Home Day expenses.
