$20,000 grant
Larry and Brenda Potterfield of Midway USA recently donated $1 million to the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) to promote youth shooting. The NWTF then nominated schools to receive grants on behalf of the Potterfield Foundation. Joe Leichtenberger, the current treasurer and committee chairman of the Kinzua Allegheny Longbeards — the local chapter of the NWTF — is the current coach of the Sheffield trap team and was able to help secure one of the $20,000 grants for the school. Sheffield is one of only three schools in Pennsylvania to receive a grant. This money will be placed into a trust fund and will supply a means to draw funds for the life of the program. Present for the check presentation on Saturday were, front row from left, Kristen Geiger (NWTF Biologist) with children Tim and Jennifer, Sheffield trap coaches Lee Heeter, Denny Markham, Emily Leichtenberger, Joe Leichtenberger, Marie Kibbey, Lonny Heeter and NWTF Regional Director Walt Bingaman. In the back row are team members, Jordon Wilson, Marlee White, Zach Anderson, Ricky Prosen, Noah Heeter, Ryan Feidler, Matt Bell, Wes Byers, Erica Boutelle and Erin Fry.
