PSU Probe

July 19, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear Editor:

Ex FBI Director and former Federal Judge, Louis Freeh and his more than 10 internal investigators into the Penn State coverup of the Jerry Sandusky, child, sex-abuse scandal reveals the following facts: 1. Length of time - 8 months. 2. Cost - 6.5 million dollars. 3. Documents covered - 3.5 million. 4. Persons interrogated - 430. 5. Scathing report pages - 267. 7. "I feel badly the legacy of Joe Paterno tarnished."

One need never to apologize when telling the truth - it is what it is. The university was a culture of silence. To remain silent is to lie. There is nothing worse than a pathological liar. P. S. U. authorities were a pathos of inequity when it came to telling the truth.

In this day and age the country is too fragile for truth; and here again, conditioned from this, authoritative figures, because they say or image their position, are accepted as true.

Said case is a classic example where the coverup is worse than the act itself. What Paternos could do is uncover (open up) Joe Pa's 3.5 million dollar beach house on the Jersey shore to under-privileged children for a day or two in the sun.

For certain the statue needs to go as well as his name on the campus library. Who needs a mindset like that? Otherwise, it's propping up a false god, even after the truth comes out.

To prop or not to prop?

Always a choice,

John L. Erickson
