Christmas in July
The Wilder Museum is hosting an unique shopping experience on Saturday, July 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 51 Erie Ave. in Irvine. Tour this exclusive event and the museum historic collections, filled with artists, crafters and vendors selling everything from hand-crafted candles, jewelry to food and clothing. Community Service Award
The annual Youngsville Community Service Award nominees are being accepted for 2012. The service provided to the community must be volunteer basis and recognition will be measured by the nominee's positive impact on the community, not length of service.
Nominees must have contributed to the betterment of the quality of life within Youngsville Borough, and Brokenstraw and Pittsfield townships. Nominations may be submitted by individuals, committees or commissions, service organizations, friends, relatives, etc. to Youngsville Borough Council, 40 Railroad St., Youngsville, Pa. 16371.
The deadline for submissions is Aug. 13 and the award will be presented at the Corn Festival.
Wrestlers Fundraiser
The Youngsville Wrestlers and their coaches will be selling hot dogs, chips, drinks and baked goods on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Youngsville American Legion Pavilion. They will also be having a cash drawing for anyone interested in purchasing tickets.
Proceeds from the two-day sales will benefit the upcoming Youngsville wrestling season.
Boating and Water Safety
BVSP and Youngsville Borough are hosting a two-day Boating and Water Safety Course on Aug.13-14.
Day 1 will be held at the borough building from noon to 4 p.m. and Day 2 at the Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The course meets the requirement for the Boating Safety Education Certificate needed motorboat operation. The cost is $5 without the certificate or $15 with the certificate. Register before Aug. 8 by calling Youngsville Borough, 563-4604. Fifteen participants are needed to host the class. All ages welcome.
BVSP
Jack the Dog is playing at BVSP on Thursday, July 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $3 w/ a pass or $5 without a pass, which includes the entry fee and a free hot dog.
The annual BVSP Swim Meet is Saturday, July 21, 6 to 7:30 p.m. It is free to the public and all ages are welcome. You can sign up now at BSVP or by calling 563-9570.
Cornfest Entry Forms
Youngsville's Corn Festival is just a month away, Aug 17-19, and entry forms for vendors and parade participants need to be submitted. Forms can be found on the website at www.cornfestyoungsvillepa.blogspot.com or vendors can call Anita at 563-4475 and parade entries can call Lynn at 723-1000.
The new parade route this year is east to west on E. Main Street from Davis to W. Main Street.
