American Legion rallies to Over 30 Softball win

Call it a comeback.

Trailing 10-2, American Legion battled back for nine runs in the sixth inning of a 12-10 Over 30 Modified Softball League victory over Blue Ribbon Rentals Tuesday at Betts Park.

Steve Edinger and Dave Bancroft tripled in the big inning for the winners and Dave Cressley and winning pitcher Larry Heeter chipped in doubles. Nick Bryan, Dave Tyger, Rich Tyger and Dave Johnson all collected two baggers for Blue Ribbon.

In other action, Midtown Motors took little mercy on Club Buck in a 15-1 thrashing. Dave Zembardo, Nick Martinelli and Sam Zembardo all ripped three hits for the winners. Martinelli had two homers while Dave Zembardo and Ryan Johnson also went deep in the victory. Adam Eggleston had two hits, including a double for Midtown.

Accent Staffing shook off a rough first inning and clawed back for a 7-6 victory over Kwik Fill. Pete Edling and Scott Hall each finished 3-for-3 with a double for Accent Staffing. Richie Zdarko homered in the loss for Kwik Fill.

Mangione's Beverage scored eight runs in the opening inning - highlighted by Ed Baldensperger's grand slam - during a 12-2 victory over Buckhorn. Mike Davis was 3-for-3 with a homer and Tim Munksgard and Scott Chase each doubled and homered for the winners.

Meridien Hardwood used a pair of Jeff Young homers to down Bullpen 13-3. Neal Kent doubled and allowed only four Bullpen hits in the victory. Barry Klenowski had three hits and Kent, Drew Wilcox, Young and Pete Smith all finished with two.

Rich Selfridge had two of Bullpen's four hits.
