Archery news

Four local archers competed and placed among the top ten in their divisions at the third leg of the International Bowhunting Organization (IBO) Triple Crown held July 13-15 in Marengo, Ohio. Those archers included Warren's Adam Miller (third, Advanced Hunter Class), Youngsville's Jim Huff (fifth, Men's Senior Release), Warren's Craig Johnson (eighth, Men's Senior Release) and Russell's Audrey Zimmerman (eighth, Pro Release Female).

Champions
Lawson Brothers Quality Auto won the season-ending tournament of the Friday Co-ed Softball League this past Friday and Saturday at Betts Park. Youth football

The Youngsville Eagles Touchdown Club Youth Tackle Football League for 4th, 5th and 6th-grade boys in the Youngsville, Tidioute and Sugar Grove areas will have sign ups and equipment handouts from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 30, in the high school parking lot. A free mini camp and skills evaluation will be held Tuesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Practices - beginning Monday, August 13 - will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Davis Street Field in Youngsville. Games will be held there at 10 a.m. on September 8, 15, 22, 29 and October 6. The annual night game is scheduled for Wednesday, September 26, at Mike Shine Field.

The cost is $40 and further information can be obtained by calling Jim Dunn at 563-7928.

Fundraiser

A chicken barbecue and car wash, benefitting the Youngsville Lady Eagles baseketball team, will be held Saturday, July 28, at the NAPA Auto Parts store in Youngsville. The cost is $8 for a chicken dinner and $6 for chicken only. The barbecue will begin at 12 p.m. and run until gone while the car wash will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kart racing

Warren's Michael Card was second in his heat, sixth in his second heat and earned his first feature win in the Senior Clone 350# class of the Stateline Karts season at Busti, N.Y.'s Stateline Speedway. The Karts are in their first season at Stateline and compete on a circuit in the track's infield.
