Karin was born February 25, 1936 in Warren, Pa. to the late Harold and Ella Louise (Cogswell) Stohl. Karin passed into eternal life from home on July 11, 2012. As soon as she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer she said, "I have had a good life. I am looking forward to seeing those who have gone before me."
Those left behind grieve her loss, but treasure the memories that each have of her. John and Karin just celebrated 54 years of marriage over which they lived in three countries, moved 14 times, and traveled to over 35 countries. Her older brother Johan treasured Karin as a loving sister and lifelong friend. Her children Scott, Kathy and Kraig appreciate Karin's unconditional love and support for them. Karin loved welcoming John and Shelley (her children's spouses) into her heart and family. To her six grandchildren, Ainslie, Drew, Elise, Adam, Ian and Ally, Karin was an encourager and an in-volved grandmother. She truly adored her dog Cluny & he LOVED Karin.
Her story is still being written because she has influenced so many lives in the 76 years she walked this earth. Karin was a dedicated, gifted elementary teacher for 33 years. Her career began in Edinburg, Oh., continued in Gadsden, Al. after a 13 year stay at home with her children, and she spent her last 25+ years teaching in Kent City Schools primarily at Hol-den Elementary. She received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Educa-tion from Ohio Wesleyan University, her master's degree in Gifted from Kent State University, and her Education Specialist from Kent State University.
Karin will be missed by her friends and colleagues. She was involved in Por-tage County Retired Teachers' Association, Thursday Literary Club, Lydia Circle, and various committees at Ravenna United Methodist Church.
Per her wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Ravenna United Methodist Church. The family will be available for calling hours from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ravenna United Methodist Church, Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice, or the Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center. Bissler and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory (www.BisslerandSons.com) are handling the arrangements.
