Air time
On what is usually one of the slowest sports days of the year — during the Major League all-star break, several Warren County extreme sports enthusiasts were enjoying the usual at the Warren Skate Park at Beaty Park. Above, Matt Kuzminski ollies off of “the hip” on Thursday night and, at right, Bryden Bowley ollies onto a rail. The sports editor felt the need to look up “ollie” on Wikipedia. “The ollie is a skateboarding trick where the rider and board leap into the air without the use of the rider’s hands. Particularly on flat ground, it is not intuitively obvious how the liftoff is achieved, making the trick visually striking.”

Jr. Legion

Warren Post 135 avenged one of its two regular-season losses and advanced to the winner's bracket finals of the Junior American Legion Baseball League playoffs with an 8-2 victory over Millcreek on Thursday.

Warren will battle the winner of Thursday's game between South County and Franklin Saturday. The location of the game will depend on the South County vs. Franklin outcome.

Post 135 (12-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on the strength of a Kyle Hunt single and made it 2-0 in the second after Derek Reagle doubled and Mitch Dorunda delivered an RBI groundout. The visitors were able to make it 3-0 in the third when Hunt drove home his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

After Millcreek scored its first run, the Warren team put four more tallies on the board in the fourth. Reagle, Dorunda and Collin DeLattre all singled in succession to load the bases and Johnny White worked a walk to force a run home. D.J. Fehlman then came through with the night's biggest hit - a bases clearing triple that made it 7-1.

Millcreek added a run in the sixth, but Warren closed out the scoring at 8-2 in the seventh when Fehlman scored on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Gustafson.

Pitcher Casey Vincent was brilliant for the winners, striking out 14 and allowing just three Millcreek singles. Fehlman, Reagle and DeLattre all had two hits for the winners.
