Sugar Grove
Borough Meeting
The Sugar Grove Borough Council met on Monday, July 2. While the normal monthly business meeting was mainly routine reports on the operations of the Borough, one new motion brought to rest an issue that has been questioned for months. After discussion and work that followed through the months of April, May, and June, the Council has successfully adopted a job description for the paid position of Borough Secretary. "It is the responsible thing to do for those who pay taxes to this borough," said one council member.
The council also will be sponsoring a Band in the park the evening before Sale Days on Friday, July 27, A Praise in the Park event on August 11th, and a Sugar Grove Park Movie night on Aug. 18.
During the month of August, Warren County School Superintendent, Brandon Hufnagle, will be attending the Borough Meeting or a Town Hall meeting set by the Council to address the upcoming changes to the Sugar Grove Elementary School and how it will impact our community. The public will be invited when the date is set for that meeting.
Book Club
There was a great turn out for last month's Book Club. The Night Circus offered the opportunity for lively and diversified discussion. It was fun to hear everyone's take on it. Once again, we got a chance to broaden our horizons and expand our minds.
The next Book Club at the Sugar Grove Free Library will meet on July 30th. The book this month is, Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts. Novalee is the main character of the book and if you think you have had a bad day recently, trust me, it cannot be as bad as Novalee's trip to WalMart. Where the Heart Is was an Oprah choice a number of years ago and it has earned the author some prestigious awards. If you would like to be a part of this month's book club, just get reading and then come to the meeting.
Willow Creek Band
The Willow Creek Band will perform on Friday, July 27 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Sugar Grove Community Park on Main Street in Sugar Grove. With thousands of fans in the area, "Willow Creek is a top 40 County Music band that plays today's great hits with a few all-time favorites in a great high energy show that will entice you to come out on the dance floor." This free public concert is the kickoff to the community's annual Sale Day festivities and is sponsored by the Sugar Grove Borough Council.
