Rick Eaton pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the first and held Larry's Cantina down the rest of the way in a 5-2 win for Betts in the Richard T. Betts Rec Modified Softball League on Wednesday at Betts Park.
Eaton threw a three-hitter, striking out five, to outduel Larry's Ryan Vandevelde. First-place Betts improved to 12-0, scoring two runs in the first, two in the second and one more in the third.
Chris Yost and Jason Rafalski had RBI singles in the first, and Addison Dunn singled and scored on a bases-loaded walk to Jeff Berdine in the second to make it 3-1. Jeff Eaton's sacrifice fly upped the lead to 4-1. Andy Hanks tripled and scored on Rafalski's sac fly in the third.
Vandevelde scattered six hits in the loss.
Fralick Chiropractic scored a pair of victories by downing both Craco and Larry's Cantina on Wednesday. In the 11-3 victory over Craco, Shane Swan was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish with a double. Teammates Chris Maggino, Billy Lawson, Mario Muscarella, Ben Lindquist and Kyle Gray all added two hits for the winners. Muscarella's night included two homers and four RBI and Lawson also drove in four runs. Ben Oviatt was 2-for-3 with a double for Craco.
In a 10-3 victory over Larry's, Maggio and Jeremy Engquist both compiled three hits for Fralick. Muscarella crushed his third homer of the night to help the team to victory. Nick Luther was 2-for-3 with a double in defeat for Larry's.
