At Chapman this week

The following programs are planned at Chapman State Park this weekend:

Friday, July 13, 6 p.m.: Extreme Home Edition: Toads Discover how toads blend in with the natural world, stay cool in summer and what happens to them in winter. Help out some homeless toads by making a toad house to take home. Meet at the Beach Concession Stand. 9 p.m.: Chorus of the Night Learn about the amphibians of the night as we go in search of toads and frogs. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight. Meet at the Warming Hut on the mooring side of the lake.

Saturday, July 14, 4 p.m.: Bat Box Building- Come to the Environmental Learning Center (across from the main park office) to learn about the decline of Pennsylvania's bats and how putting up bat boxes can be beneficial. There is a $10 donation for this program. Pre-registration is REQUIRED as supplies are limited. Please call the park office 723-0250 to register by July 13. Cash only payments are due at start of program. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center. 8 p.m.: "Save Lucy" Join the Park Naturalist to save Pennsylvania's Bats from White Nose Syndrome!! Learn about the disease that is killing millions of bats, how we can help and why we need bats. Meet at the Amphitheater for a presentation and video. In case of rain meet at Pavilion #4.

Sunday, July 15, 10 a.m.: Non-Denominational Sunday Worship Services at Park Amphitheater.

Concession stand (boat rentals/snacks/ice/firewood, etc.) is open Friday, 1-8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, noon-6 p.m.; closed Tuesdays. Use your camping receipt to receive a 10-percent discount on boat and bike rental.
