Warm weather, water and family entertainment. What says summer better than that?
On Saturday, July 14, the municipal pool in Warren will team-up with the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry (WCCBI) for the first of three movie nights at the pool.
The pool will be open during the day, but then shut down for an hour-and-a-half to get ready for the event. A movie and sound system will be brought in by the chamber and, by 6:30 p.m., staff will be ready to open the gates to the public.
The pool will be open for swimming throughout the night and the concessions stand will have food and beverages available.
According to city Parks and Recreation Director Cindy Strandburg, at dusk, the show begins. Saturday's feature will be the Universal Pictures computer-animated comedy "Despicable Me".
According to WCCBI Council on Tourism Director John Papalia Jr., "We show the movie right around 9 O'Clock. Right when it's getting dark."
"We really enjoy showing movies at the pool," Papalia said of the event, now in its third year. "We have a good time every time we do it. There's always a good turnout. I think it's a perfect venue for families to come and enjoy a night out."
Admission to the event is $1 for adults and $.50 for students and children, according to Strandburg. Season pass holders at the pool will be admitted for free. Two more movie nights are tentatively planned at the pool on Aug. 8 and 18.
