Warren County Visitors Bureau Director Mike Olewine resigned unexpectedly Friday, June 29.
Although officers of the Bureau's Board of Directors declined comment on the exact circumstances of Olewine's departure, Vice-President Coralee Wenzel said, "Mike is interested in pursuing other activity so he tendered his resignation."
Board President Karen Sobkowski described the resignation as "an amicable parting".
According to Sobkowski, plans for filling the position have not been finalized.
"We're not sure how we're handling it yet," Sobkowski noted. "We want to make sure we get the best candidate. We'll probably make a decision on what we're going to do moving forward at our next meeting."
Sobkowski said she did not know if the board would fill the position on an interim basis during the process of filling the position or "put someone in their right away".
Olewine could not be reached for comment on the circumstances of his sudden resignation.
