ST. MARY'S - Two wins from the title.

Warren's Girls Minors All-Star team pounded St. Mary's on Thursday night, cruising to a 16-1 four-inning win.

St. Mary's scored its lone run of the game in the top of the first and, in its first at-bats, Warren blew the game open. Marissa Grubbs had a two-RBI single in the first, a frame that was littered with walks.

Grubbs struck again with an RBI single in a two-run second inning for Warren after pitcher Julia Lobdell held St. Mary's scoreless in the top of the frame.

Warren would cap off the night with an eight-run bottom of the third. The inning was highlighted by a Kiersten Hoffman two-run single.

Overall, Trinity Wennberg went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, Gracie Wood went 1-for-1, scored three runs and was intentionally walked twice. Grace Wortman also had two hits for Warren.

Lobdell was credited with the win, scattering a hit in each of her three innings pitched, striking out five along the way. Wennberg pitched the final shut-out frame for Warren.

Warren takes the field next on Saturday when it will play Dubois in Dubois at 4 p.m. If Warren wins, the two teams will play again on Sunday for the district championship.
