With all-star competition nearly three weeks old, four Warren teams remain alive when action resumes on Thursday following the 4th of July holiday.
The Girls Minors (3-1) team is one of two teams resuming competition Thursday and it will battle Saint Marys with the winner advancing to Saturday's District 10 championship against DuBois. Warren and Saint Marys already met once this season with Saint Marys winning 7-6 on June 29 in Warren. This time, the game will be played in Saint Marys.
Also on Thursday will be the opening game of the postseason for the Warren Boys 10-11 year-old all-stars. That club opens the four-team double elimination tournament against Saint Marys in a 6 p.m. contest at Betts-Jackson Field.
The Boys Juniors (0-1) were sent the loser's bracket after a 12-11 loss to Saint Marys that started Tuesday and was completed on Wednesday. Warren trailed 12-10 Tuesday when lightning in the area called for the suspension of the game with Warren down to its final three outs. The team pushed one run across the plate, but could not muster the tying run and was defeated.
Warren will now square off with Brockway in an elimination game on Friday. The 6 p.m. game will be held in Brockway with the winner advancing to play Sunday.
The fourth and final team alive in all-star play is the Warren Boys Majors Americans (2-0) team. Warren advanced to the District 10 North title game with an 8-4 victory over the Bradford Americans on Tuesday. The Americans will host the winner of Thursday's Bradford Americans vs. Cameron County game Saturday at Betts-Jackson Field. Game time will be at either 2 or 4 p.m. Warren would have to be defeated twice in order to be denied a D-10 North title.
