Garbage Collection

Garbage collection in Tidioute Borough will be on the normal day this week.

Senior Center Menu

Thursday, July 5 will be chicken tender sandwich, dessert and beverages.

Monday, July 9 will be pizza and salad, dessert and beverages.

Tuesday, July 10 will be chicken salad, dessert and beverages.

Thursday, July 12 will be spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings, dessert and beverages.

Call the senior center at 484-3020 to get signed up for lunch, if you need a ride the TWAC bus will pick you up and take you to the center and back home again. Also, they will take you to the grocery store, medical center and pharmacy. All you need to do is call the day before you need the bus at 484-3020 or 723-1874.

Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus of St. John Church in Tidioute Council 9304 will hold its regular general meeting on Thursday, July 5 at St. John Center at 7:30 p.m.

All members are urged to attend this important meeting.

Class of 1992 Reunion

Plans are in place for the 20th reunion for the Class of 1992 of Tidioute High School.

Hamilton White is in town and making final plans for this reunion which will be held at Benner Park on Saturday, July 7 from 1 p.m. till the last one leaves.

Military Addresses

Needed

Ladies Auxiliary members of Post 8803 are still looking for updated addresses of our military personnel who are serving overseas.

All addresses can be sent to Doris Svitek, P. O. Box 105, Tidioute, Pa. 16351 or call her at 484- 7218.

Also, you can drop the addresses off at the VFW if that is easier for you.

Packages will be sent to these military personnel in the near future.

Summer Reading

Program

Tuck into a good book at the Tidioute Public Library during the Summer Reading Program.

This year's theme is Dream Big: Read!

Programs will be available for teens, toddlers, and kindergarten through sixth grade.

Registration forms are now available at the library.

The first program will be on July 20 at 1:30 for kindergarten through sixth grades.

For a complete schedule, call the library at 484-3581, or stop in during regular library hours which are Monday and Thursday, noon till 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday 9 a. m. till 3 p.m.

Bible School

Tidioute Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. John Church.

There will be Busy Beaver Crafts, Picnic Patch Snacks, Trek Talks, and Awesome Songs.

This is free to any of the students entering first through sixth grades.

Raft Races

Tidioute will once again be the site for the Anything That Floats, Raft Race on Saturday, July 14.

This year the theme is "Favorite Childhood Cartoon".

Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8803 are hosting the event and Sonya Shields is the chairperson.

Each person riding on an entry in this race is required to pay a $5 registration fee.

The race will begin behind the old Wildwood Inn on Route 62 just north of Tidioute at 11 a.m. and will end at the Tidioute Boat Launch at approximately 3 p.m.

Youth Dance

Tidioute Fire Department Auxiliary will host an "End of Summer Kids Dance" on Aug. 31 at the firehall from 7 till 10 p.m.

This is for students in grades five through 12.

There will be chaperones and anyone leaving the building before the dance is over will not be allowed to come back in.

Golf Scramble

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will host its 11th Annual Golf Scramble on Saturday, July 28 at River Ridge Golf Course.

This is a four-person team scramble and there will be a $40 per person fee.

Hot dogs and beverages will be available.

Sign up sheets are posted at Tippy Canoe and VFW Post 8803, both in Tidioute.

Dice Run

The 7th Annual Thunder In The Hoot Dice Run in Tidioute will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11 with registration from 10 a.m. till noon at the Tidioute Community Charter School.

There is a $10 fee for each bike and an another $10 for an additional rider.

If you don't have a bike you can drive your car.

There will be food and entertainment along with door prizes.

Following the run, prizes will be awarded for highest and lowest rolls.

The Run will be approximately 100 miles, starting at the Tidioute Community Charter School and ending back in Tidioute.

Sponsors Needed

The community of Tidioute has put together a fund raiser for the benefit of the Tidioute Community Charter School, "Thunder In the Hoot Dice Run". This will be the seventh year for the Dice Run to benefit the school.

Once again, they are looking for sponsors for the run. Operational funds, prize monies, trophies, or door prize are welcome.

Through donations, they are able to have a successful run and are able to give the school a sizeable donation.

A playground fund for the charter school was started with hopes to continue to the fund every year.

Thunder In The Hoot will take place on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the charter school.

If you would like to send a donation, make checks payable to Thunder In The Hoot and send it to treasurer Marlene Higgins, 56 Main St., Tidioute, Pa. 16351.

Fire Department

Fund Drive

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department is hold its annual fund drive and are requesting monetary donations to help defray the cost of running a volunteer fire department.

If you would like to make a monetary donation to the fire department, make your check payable to Tidioute Fire Department and mail it to them at P. O. Box 122, Tidioute, Pa. 16351

All monetary donations regardless of amount are tax deductible.

One way to save for this Fund Drive is to toss all your loose change into a container and when the container is full, wrap your coins and made a donation to the fire department.
