Parade chairs

July 3, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

Regarding article 6/21/12 in Times Observer titled "Chairing the Event" - July 4th parade.

The chairs are a safety hazard to people. People cannot get out of their cars on the passenger side. If a person does manage to get out of the car, you are in danger of falling into the chairs.

In the article the police cited instances where cars were damaged by chairs falling into them. This year I observed chairs being placed on Father's Day 6/17/12. This is a "tradition" that has gone haywire. Chairs should be allowed to be placed on July1st each year up until July 4th. Anyone placing chairs before July 1st should be fined.

They are a safety hazard.

Sincerely,

Mary Leo, Warren
