John L. Friedrich, 93, of Clarion, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at the V.A. Hospi-tal in Butler. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Born August 18, 1918, in Pittsburgh; he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret Roberts Friedrich.
He was married on Janu-ary 24, 1946 to the former Margaret G. Johnston, who preceded him in death on June 11, 1997.

A veteran in the Army, John served in the E.T.O. WWII 30th Infantry Divi-sion 120th Regiment Co "A" as a Technical Ser-geant. He was honored with all WWII Campaign Medals, two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Belgian Fourragere for the Battle of the Bulge.
John was a member of the 30th Infantry Division Tar Heel Chapter.
He worked as a floor and tile mechanic.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading about the military, especially the Civil War.
Surviving are three chil-dren, John J. Friedrich and his wife, Lisa, of Washing-ton, PA, Mark J. Friedrich of Clarion, and Janet M. Ochs and her husband, Tedd, of Lucinda; and six grandchildren, Matthew Ochs, Suzanne Ochs Fisher, Amanda Bidwell McElhat-ten, Jared Bidwell, Lauren Friedrich, and Leo Friedrich; and a number of great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah L. Bidwell, a brother, Robert J. Friedrich, and sister, Al-ice Miksa.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012, and from 10 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Robert V. Burns Fun-eral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in the funeral home with Rev. Harold O. Jacobson, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church, Clarion, officiating.
Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
