Dead deer

June 28, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

I would just like to take this opportunity to vent to the very inconsiderate individual that hit an extremely small fawn by the end of my driveway today.

How could you not see her? How could you hit her and not stop? Broad daylight and I'm sure she was not alone. My sister and I were on our way home after a very nice day and that just ruined the rest of our day.

We stopped and my sister picked her up and carried her across the road and laid her in the woods. That's what you should have done. What sense was there in just leaving her lay in the road to get smashed all over? She only weighed about 20 pounds.

If it had been a child, would you have stopped? Well, it was her child and I think she deserved at least the consideration of you taking care of what you destroyed. I am just very glad that I did not have any of my grandchildren with me. It was bad enough for us to handle.

Please everyone, slow down and watch for the animals...they are a part of a family too. They have feelings also.
