The unemployment rate for Warren County stayed the same in May.
The county's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 6.2 percent, the same as recorded in April, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry's Center for Workforce Information and Analysis.
The number of people in the county's labor force rose to 21,400 in May from 21,100 in April. The number of people employed rose from 19,800 to 20,000 and the number of those unemployed remained at 1,300.
According to the center, the number of jobs increased in the total private, service-producing, trade, transportation and utilities, education and health services. Decreases were recorded in the goods-producing, manufacturing, government and local government sectors.
The current unemployment rate is down from the 7.1 percent recorded in May 2011.
Warren County's 6.2 percent rate is the lowest in the region when compared to 8.1 percent in Clarion County, 8.0 percent in Forest County, 7.1 percent in Venango County, 7.1 percent in Erie County and 7.0 percent in Crawford County.
The unemployment rate across the state is 7.4 percent and the national rate is 8.2 percent.
