JOHN FOLEY

John Maurer Foley, age 85, of The Villages, Florida and formerly of Indiana, PA passed away suddenly on June 18, 2012 at The Vil-lages Regional Hospital.

He was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on October 23, 1926, the son of Wil-lard Leo Foley, Sr. and Martha Maurer Foley. Although the Foley family moved 13 times in John's 12 years of schooling, he excelled in sports and was part of the Donora High School 1944 WPIAL Foot-ball championship team. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II where he was sta-tioned in Japan during the post war period. In 1948 he married Alice J. Horn, and together they raised four children.

Spending most of his life in Pennsylvania, John was employed by the Penn-sylvania Electric Company. He retired as the Operations Superintendent at the Ho-mer City Generating Sta-tion. He was known for his knowledge of the plant operations from the ground up.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of 63 years; his children Cathy Foley Bluemling and her husband Tom of The Villages, Flori-da; Jodell Kuzneski and her husband, Anthony of India-na, Pennsylvania; Terry J. Foley and his wife Peggy of Marietta, Georgia; and Nancy Foley and Kathy Ponting of Placerville, Cal-ifornia; 8 grandchildren, Katie Blueming Sheldon and husband Victor; Cory Bluemling; Tyler Blueml-ing; Travis Bluemling; Em-ily Kuzneski Johnson and husband Jesse; John Kuzneski and Stacey May; Allison Foley; and Sean Foley; 3 great grandchil-dren, Carson; Kaitlyn; and Kelsey Sheldon; sister, Betty Foley and dear friend Julie Largay; and brother, Bob Foley. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Thomas and Wil-lard, and sister Mary Lou.

John will be remem-bered for his kindness, calm demeanor and love of life. A memorial service was held on June 22 at the North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, FL. A celebration of his life will be held in Indiana at a future date.
