Robert D. Smith, 74, of Main St., Bear Lake, Pa., died Monday, June 25, 2012, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.
He was born on May 1, 1938, in Niobe, NY., a son of the late Loren and Rena Whitford Smith.
Robert was raised and educated in Niobe, NY. As a young man, he worked in Jamestown, NY. at Webber-Knapp Company and a furniture manufactur-ing company. He then went to work for Corry James-town Corporation in the paint spraying department for over 29 years. He later worked at Corry Manufac-turing Company and at Walmart in Corry until his retirement. Robert had lived in Bear Lake for the past 45 years.

As a youth, he belonged to the 4-H Club. He was a member of the Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Corry. For many years, he raised rab-bits at his home.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preced-ed in death on July 8, 2008, by his wife Mildred L. Skinner Smith, whom he married on August 17, 1961 in Bear Lake, five sis-ters; Pearl Snow, Mary Smith, Isabelle Howard, Ruth Gleason and Lillian Gustafson and five broth-ers; Arthur, Earl, Lawrence, George and Loren Smith.
Robert is survived by a daughter Cynthia Hancock and her husband Robert of Waycross, Ga., two sons; Gordon Smith of Bear Lake, Pa., and Kelly Smith and his fiance Crystal Shel-don, of Youngsville, Pa., and two brothers; Willard Smith and Leon Smith, both of Jamestown, NY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jessica Han-cock, Crystal Wilkins, Han-nah Hancock all of Way-cross, Ga., Heather Christenson of Warren, Pa., Ryan Smith of Bear Lake, Pa., Codi Smith of Celeron, NY., and Nicole Smith of Youngsville, Pa., six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev. John Zimmerman of the First United Metho-dist Church, Corry, will of-ficiate.
Burial will be in Bear Lake Cemetery, Bear Lake, Pa.
