The General Joseph Warren Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is pleased to announce the Good Citizens for Warren and Forest County high schools. The DAR Good Citizen Award is presented to a high school senior that has demonstrated the qualities of a Good Citizen. Each high school is asked to select a senior that possesses the Good Citizen qualities that include dependability, leadership, patriotism and service.
In honor of our Good Citizens the General Joseph Warren Chapter has taken on the project of planting trees in Crescent Park.
The DAR Good Citizen Award was presented to the following students:
Derek Hanely of West Forest High School is the son of Martin and Paula Hanely. Derek was involved in many activities during high school. Those activities included varsity club, drama club, band, foreign language club, book club, National Honor Society, Pennsylvania Youth Ambassadors, student historians and baseball. He was the recipient of the Woodmen of the World Award, President's Education Award for Academic Excellence, the Fredrick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, and the National Physical Fitness Award. Derek plans to attend the Robert E. Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Danielle Oaks of Eisenhower High School is the daughter of Larry and Vikki Oaks of Sugar Grove. During high school, Danielle participated in Spanish Club (president), choir (vice president), Fantasia, yearbook and book club. Danielle was selected to sing at district choir where her audition results provided her an opportunity to be a member of the regional choir. She also helped in the school library during her free time. Danielle plans to attend Edinboro University in the fall.
Kayla Bullock of Youngsville High School is the daughter of Melissa and Robert Bullock. Kayla's high school activities included Spanish club, science club, prom committee, yearbook, library helper, tutoring club, Front Line Mentoring Program and Project Ignition. She was a member of the marching band, National Honor Society, SADD which she served as president, and YVC. Kayla attended the Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week in 2010 and the Catholic Leadership Institute in 2011. She was the recipient of the 2012 National Language Art Award. Kayla is planning to attend Mount Aloysius College where she will major in surgical technology.
Daniel Bonner of Tidioute is the son of Kevin and Beth Bonner of Tidioute. Throughout high school, Daniel was involved in many activities. He was a member of the National Honor Society, band, basketball and trap teams, Civil War Club, yearbook (editor 2012) and prom committee. He participated in the school play as an actor, stage crew member and was the 2012 director. Daniel also was the manager of the student store. Daniel volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Drives, Allegheny River Cleanup, Warren Rotary Pancake Supper and the PA State Fishing Tournament. Daniel is also active in the Boy Scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2010, is a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow, earned his 50 Miler Award and BSA Lifeguard Certification. He was a member of Venture Crew 82 and currently serves as junior assistant Scoutmaster for his troop. Daniel is also employed at Hummingbird Cafe in Tidioute. He plans to attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, to pursue a degree in sports management.

Jordan Ewing of Warren Area High School is the son of the Rev. Jeffrey and Kari Ewing. Erica Boutelle of Sheffield Area Middle High School is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Boutelle. Seth Toski of East Forest High School is the son of Paula Toski.
